This course is designed to equip students with practical skills in planning and conducting lab field work, basic testing, standard calibrations, presenting data, lab maintenance and more. Suitable for workers in a range of industries, including those in laboratory assistant and similar roles.

There are 13 total units of competency in this qualification. Streams can be customised to suit industry requirements.

5 core units:

• MSL943004 Participate in laboratory or field workplace safety
• MSL922002 Record and present data
• BSBCMM211 Apply communication skills
• MSL933009 Contribute to the achievement of quality objectives
• MSL913004 Plan and conduct laboratory/field work

8 elective units:

• Dependent on stream - available streams include asphalt, chemical, CMT, coal, mineral, pathology and school science technician.
