Course Overview

Building confidence and trust with patients is at the heart of healthcare organisations. If your employees work in administration or in clinical care, they have a responsibility to safeguard sensitive patient information. 

 

This micro-credential will help you ensure your employees understand and adhere to privacy, confidentiality, and security principles in your workplace. It will also equip them with the knowledge and confidence to identify areas of improvement so that your organisation demonstrates continuous improvement in privacy, confidentiality, and security practices.

Course Content

By the end of this course, participants will have skills and knowledge to:

 

  • Explain what we mean by confidentiality, privacy, and security in medical administration 
  • Describe your role in safeguarding patient information 
  • Explain why communication is fundamental to patient privacy and confidentiality   
  • Analyse codes of conduct and their role in promoting confidentiality, privacy, and security 
  • Describe how information systems intersect with patient privacy 
  • Create, promote, and implement plans and processes to implement privacy, confidentiality, and security measures 
  • Apply continuous improvement models to enhance confidentiality, privacy, and security.  

Additional Details

Participants will complete a quiz at the end of the course, requiring a 60% pass mark. Upon successful completion, they will have access to a certificate of completion as evidence of achievement of the micro-credential.
