Why Demand for Training Is Surging in Indonesia
Between 2020 and 2024, Indonesia experienced one of the fastest shifts in workplace expectations in Southeast Asia. According to PwC, 76% of Indonesian workers say their roles have changed significantly in the past five years, and 57% say access to skills development is a key reason to stay with their employer (PwC Indonesia, 2024). Yet major skill gaps remain—particularly in digital literacy, ESG compliance, cybersecurity, and leadership.

Some of the most urgent pressure include:
- Cybersecurity Readiness: Only 12% of organisations in Indonesia are considered cyber-mature (Kominfo, 2024) [source]—yet the Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP) will be fully enforceable by October 17, 2024, with fines of up to 2% of annual revenue for non-compliance.
- AI & Analytics Talent Gaps: PwC’s 2025 AI Jobs Barometer shows that skills for AI-exposed jobs are evolving 66% faster than for other roles [PwC ]—highlighting an urgent need for upskilling in AI, prompt engineering, and data analysis.
- Sustainability Reporting: ESG disclosure is now mandatory for all OJK-listed companies. With the rollout of the Indonesia Green Taxonomy 2.0, even non-listed firms are facing mounting compliance expectations, especially in manufacturing, finance, and energy.
These drivers are increasing demand for high-quality, practical, and adaptable training—especially in Bahasa Indonesia and across distributed workforces.
What Is IA Skills?
IA Skills is a government-supported training and education platform created under the Indonesia–Australia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IA-CEPA). It was developed with support from Katalis, a bilateral economic cooperation program designed to strengthen trade, investment, and skills development between the two countries.
The platform allows Indonesian organisations—whether in the public or private sector—to connect directly with certified Australian training providers. These include some of Australia’s most experienced TAFEs, universities, private providers and registered training organisations (RTOs).
Thanks to IA-CEPA, Australian providers enjoy streamlined access to the Indonesian education market—and that translates into faster, more responsive training for Indonesian clients. IA Skills makes this connection easier, more affordable, and more transparent.
Whether you’re a ministry official, HR leader, SOE training manager, or business owner, IA Skills is your gateway to internationally recognised, fit-for-purpose training that meets Indonesia’s evolving workforce needs.
